Winterset Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Christian School Teacher to join our team. We are committed to providing a Christ-centered education that nurtures the academic, spiritual, and personal growth of our students. As a teacher at Winterset Christian Academy, you will play a vital role in shaping the hearts and minds of our students, equipping them with knowledge and values rooted in Christian principles.

General Description of Requirements and Duties include but are not limited to:

Required Spiritual Qualities and Accountabilities:

• Acknowledge Christ as Savior and seek to live life as His disciple.

• Believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God – our

standard for faith and practice.

• Believe and actively support the school’s statement of faith (attached).

• Demonstrate a desire for spiritual growth as evidenced by his or her prayer life, Bible study, and spiritual

outreach to others.

• Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6:40). This includes being

committed to God’s biblical standards for sexual conduct.

• Share the Christian faith with others.

• Have a Christ-centered home.

  • Actively participate in a local Bible-believing church.

Curriculum Development: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans in accordance with the school's Christian-based curriculum, ensuring alignment with academic standards and biblical principles.

Classroom Instruction: Conduct dynamic and interactive classroom sessions that cater to diverse learning styles, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Spiritual Integration: Integrate biblical teachings and Christian values into all aspects of the curriculum, guiding students in their spiritual growth and understanding.

Individualized Learning: Provide support and guidance to students, addressing individual learning needs and offering additional assistance when necessary.

Assessment and Progress Tracking: Evaluate student progress through various assessment methods, providing constructive feedback to students and parents to facilitate growth.

Parent Communication: Maintain open and transparent communication with parents, providing updates on student progress, upcoming events, and addressing any concerns in a timely and respectful manner.

Extracurricular Engagement: Participate in school activities, clubs, and events, fostering a sense of community and encouraging student involvement beyond the classroom.

Professional Development: Stay current with educational best practices, attending workshops and conferences to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Collaboration: Work closely with fellow teachers and staff, participating in meetings and collaborative efforts to enhance the overall educational experience at Winterset Christian Academy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Teaching certification with a focus on Christian Education or willingness to obtain certification preferred, but not needed.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Christian principles and values.

  • Previous experience teaching in a Christian school or similar setting preferred.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

  • Passion for teaching and nurturing the academic and spiritual growth of students.

  • Proficiency in integrating technology into the classroom is a plus.

Academy Administrator Position

 
 

Job description

The Academy Administrator is the chief executive of the school and, in partnership with the school board, is responsible for the success of the school. The academy administrator provides spiritual, educational, and administrative leadership to the school and its staff. It is this person’s responsibility to inspire, lead, and direct all phases of the school’s operations, programs, budget, personnel, and environment in accordance with the direction and policies established by the school board.

• Lead the staff, students, and school families into a deeper spiritual commitment by example and teaching.

• Delegate the organization and coordination of chapel programs.

Required Professional Qualities and Accountabilities:

  • Must have a four-year-degree from an accredited postsecondary institution or be willing to participate in a program to complete such a degree within a specified time period.

  • Have a minimum of one year of successful classroom teaching experience, and one year of successful administration experience, preferably in a Christian school.

  • Demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy, having a basic proficiency in doing word processing, creating, and using a spreadsheet, e-mailing, and accessing the internet.

Required Academic Qualities and Accountabilities:

• Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Christian philosophy of education that will enable him or her to provide leadership and guidance in the school’s development of and commitment to a Christian worldview.

• Provide and oversee structure, procedures, personnel, time, and resources for curriculum development.

• Coordinate the annual school testing programs. Help interpret test result data to staff and parents.

• Lead the school staff in continuous professional development through such activities as new staff orientation, in-service opportunities, continuing education, and teaching demonstrations and training.

• Evaluate employees using formal and informal evaluation, and formal and informal classroom observations.

Required Administrative Qualities and Accountabilities:

• Understand the roles of board members, administrator, and staff members as they pertain to the organization of the school.

• Provide the school environment with appropriate rules, structure, and procedures in which staff, students, and volunteers can function efficiently, effectively, and productively.

• Provide leadership in planning the master schedule.

• Make objective recommendations, with adequate supporting data, to the school board regarding cases of assignment, transfer, promotion, demotion, nonrenewal of contract or dismissal.

• Provide oversight and leadership for staff meetings and in-service opportunities.

• Be available to assist the teachers in matters relating to student needs and problems.

• Oversee and maintain positive discipline while ensuring that discipline is consistently maintained within biblical guidelines.

• Maintain a physical presence with the students by attending and, when possible, participating in school chapels, and other activities.

• Provide for the evaluation, orientation, and placement of all incoming families and students.

• Arrange for substitute teachers, or substitute, as needed and assist them in successfully carrying out their responsibilities.
